Daily Update - January 30, 2008!

Hello MPM Members,

I can hardly believe 6 days have gone by since I sent an Update. Things seem to be moving at hyper-speed. All good, but the days seem to be dissolve in a flash and I wonder where the 12-15 hours have gone. :) We've grown to 103,000 members since I last wrote - averaging an additional 1000 members every 3 days. The best news is that the number of shoppers is increasing! We'll really see the numbers explode, and all of you will see your commissions increase, next month when the 10,000 members who have joined this month make sure they have made their purchase by the end of February so they don't lose their Mall.

Which reminds me... have you done th ONE THING? If you joined after December 19th, you have just two days left - until midnight tomorrow, Thursday, night to make the ONE PURCHASE on your Mall that will make sure you keep it. Remember, we don't play any crazy qualifying games in My Power Mall. We simply require you to make just one purchase a month to keep your free Mall.

ARE YOU IN THE SEATTLE AREA?

Before I roll into the rest of the Update, I want to make an offer... I've had several people down in the Seattle, WA area want me to come down to meet everyone. I would LOVE to do just that but I need someone who will step up to handle the logistics - find a meeting place, handle the registrants, etc. It doesn't have to be fancy. If you can't find a free place and you have to rent somewhere, I would prefer it not cost members more than 5$-$10 dollars to attend.

You'll actually get a lot more than just me, because we happen to have 6 of the T-Squad (corporate officers) in the Seattle area. This will also be your chance to meet Gordon, Sandi, Petrina, Carl, Kathie & Marnie. We don't do rah-rah Opportunity Meetings. :) We'll come just to meet you, thank you for helping us build this amazing company, hug every single one of you, hear your stories, and answer questions for as long as you have them. It's a great chance to meet other members in the Seattle area and develop a support network.

Here's my idea. I would like to come down on February 23rd and have the meeting start at 6:00 PM. Would someone like to step forward and take it on? I'll be staying over the night and would love to have breakfast with you, and anyone on your team you would like to invite before I head home to Bellingham. If you want it to be just you and me, that will be great, too!

The MPM Business Partnership Program!

One reason the MPM Payment Card is so important is because it's your ticket to the Local Merchant Program - a part of the MPM Business Partnership Program. Having this card will allow you to make purchases at participating MPM Local Merchant businesses and earn a rebate from every purchase!

We launched this program just two weeks ago with 265 wonderful people who are the BPP Pilot Team - amazing, courageous people who are enduring the bumps, lumps and learning curves of a new program so that all of you who want to jump in later will find it smooth sailing. Of course, you won't have as great a stories as they do from the "Pioneer Days". On the other hand, your teeth won't be so worn down from the constant nashing! :)

This team is being led by TV Epping, the Director of the BPP Program. He is doing a fabulous job and applaud my brilliance in bringing him on to head up this team. :) He makes me so proud every single day!

Hello Ginny and Van!

Since Chamber of Commerce seems to be a hot topic these days, I wanted to weigh in with a meeting I had this morning.

I met with the Director of Membership Development of the Lake View Chamber of Commerce. Lake View is the large area on the north side of Chicago that includes Wrigley Field and lots and lots of small businesses. They have 450 businesses in this particular Chamber, and there is also a Lake View East Chamber of Commerce that somewhat overlaps, and serves a smaller, a more "artsy" group of businesses.

I started my own communications company in August, and I used that fact to open the door for both chambers, saying that I'm interested in joining a Chamber, can afford to join only one right now, and I'm trying to decide which one to join. That's the absolute truth.

The "artsy" Lake View East Chamber spoke with me on the phone and sent me an e-mail with their membership information. The topic of BPP hasn't even come up at this point.

The Lake View Chamber, however, offered to meet with me in person at Starbucks this morning. Well, I've never had a bad meeting when Peppermint Mocha Grandes were involved, and this was no exception.

We went right down to business and spent about 15 minutes talking about my business and the Chamber. It seems like a really good fit for me, and I said that I intend to join. Then we spent about 15 minutes getting to know each other. Then I mentioned BPP and MPM and we spent a solid 15 minutes talking about that and how it could generate income for the Chamber and offer a great service to members. We finished with a last 15 or so minutes of "girlfriend" talk as if we've known each other a lifetime, followed by hugs in the parking lot (right across the street from the ballpark).

Turns out the Chamber tried to offer a credit card program last year and it became a disaster, so she is going to bring my packet to the Executive Director tomorrow morning and she thinks there will be real interest in the program. I of course offered to come by at any time and meet with the exec or anyone else, do a presentation on BPP to the whole Chamber, or anything else they come up with to spread the word.

I have a very good feeling about this, along with my buzz from the Peppermint Mocha Grande that is currently zooming through my system.

I guess the key is to honestly present ourselves as potential members of the Chambers we want to meet with. That way, they are selling to us and we are selling to them. It's a more balanced relationship right from the start. I do intend to join, and I do intend to be active on committees and such.

Hello Van! I signed up my first Business Partner yesterday January 23. Sean was the first person that I mentioned the BPP program to back in December. I started working with him last Wednesday, and one week later (yesterday) he filled out the GTECKS paperwork. He is unable to sign up with Jet Pay because of the way his contract is constructed with the wireless carriers that he represents. But, I will not give up hope...I know that he will always have an opportunity to do so at another time.

Ginny shared something with us a few months ago about the power of giving. I followed her advice, and am beginning to realize the fruits of following her advice. By the way, the "stories from the field" questions/responses really helps answers my questions. Thanks for putting those up. I am sooo excited!. Thanks all for helping answer my questions by reading yours.

This has been such a struggle for me. I have to have everything perfect before I present it. So today I felt confident that I had it all. Finally got my brochures to print correctly.

I had been at a local 'Take and Bake' Pizza place earlier and mentioned to the Manager that I had a 'program' that I wanted to introduce to the owner. I got my pizzas and left. So this was the first place I would approach. First it took me a long conversation with myself before I could go in.....I thought MONDAY would be a BETTER day to go in....and then I thought, once I introduce this, I'm COMMITTED....then I thought ~ I promised I'd be back today....gotta go in.... I went in and layed everything on the counter. I briefly explained and told her I would be in next week if she could make sure that the owner saw what I had to offer.

I must explain that I am now raising funds through 2 gifting centers. I have one that represents each of our local high schools so that the Merchant can choose which one they want to support.

I then left and felt confident from my conversation with the manager.

So I drove across town to actually another pizza place (I too love Pizza) and I happen to know the owner. I sat in my car for about 10 minutes as I spoke to my upline Robin about how great I felt that I was able to 'break the ice'. And I see the owner (my friend) leaving the store! I jumped out of my car and stopped her. I told her briefly about the program and said that I really wanted to talk to her about this and get some feedback from her on it. So she gave me her cell phone number and told me to call on Monday and we could get together! :) I left the packet and told her to look this over this weekend ...

I left there thinking that I did what I had set out to do today (for me that all was HUGE). But, feeling more confident than I ever thought I would, I drove to a couple of places downtown just to drive by and plan my future calls. One place that I would like to talk to has been shut down for a week now. I'm worried that something serious might have happened and I hope it's not anything terrible. So I realized that I was out of dogfood and I thought I would visit the smaller of the 2 petstores. When I drove up I noticed that they had a dog grooming shop inside. I never realized that before. So I went in and walked into the grooming shop and started talking to the girls working the grooming. Learned ALOT. They were not the owners but they did a good job and I liked the area so I made an appointment for tomarrow for my dog to get groomed. I then went to get my dog food only to realize they didn't have it! So I talked to the owner and she was so nice. She told me about another type of dogfood and she had me sold. So I got that and a doggie brush the girls at the grooming recommended. And I was making my purchase and she saw my Debit Card without a name. She's like, 'what kind of card is THAT?'.. haha...I said, 'OH, that's a generic card for the business that I promote. I am getting the actual company card soon but the artwork is being approved. She said, 'OH what is THAT?". She said, 'it's probably not the service I'm looking for but..." and she proceeded to tell me she was looking for a company to finance her dogs. And I laughed and said actually it's Advertising but it's FREE! And we support our local high schools. I said that's really what I am doing here! She asked me some questions and I went and got my materials in the car! I told her I had an appointment with my dog in the morning and she said GREAT I can look this over tonight and see you tomarrow! WOW!

I couldn't believe that!

This was 3 businesses that I went into. :) GREAT beginning!

Here is a story from yesterday. I was presenting the program to a restaurant owner and a customer walked in. He is the owner's friend. He said: "My Power Mall, I am a member." I said: "You are!" and turned to the owner and said that the word is out. The customer ended up asking me my number so I can share with him some of my strategies which I will gladly do. While he was leaving, he told the owner that the program is for real!

I could have not gotten a better advertising! The owner is going to have one of his employees administer the program so I am meeting with him next week.

SIFA Africa Choir

It's time to give all of you an update on the 20 kids who comprise the SIFA Africa Choir - the ones TWCCTW is bringing over from Uganda to tour the US and sing for 6 months. So many wonderful things are happening with this undertaking - lending new meaning to TOGETHER We Can Change The World!

It's also time to tell you how you can help - and how you can meet all the TWCCTW Kids!

The kids are so excited about coming because they know their 6 months here will enable them to take back an expected $160,000 - money that will be used to build a school, build more houses and take care of more of their friends who are languishing and dying on the streets and dirt roads of Uganda. They have no concept of America - they just know they are leaving so they can help their friends!

All of us here are doing as much as we can to make this a reality for them. TWCCTW & My Power Mall are giving financial aid and working closely with Carrie Harless, my little sister and the coordinator for the SIFA Africa Choir.

Brad Gerver, the MPM Director of Marketing, put out a letter to our merchants and the offers started coming in...

Shoes.com is going to provide 50 pairs of shoes - 2 pairs each for these children who will have never even had shoes on their feet until Carrie flies over in late March to bring them back. Shoes.com was eager to be part of this special undertaking!

S&S Worldwide is providing both Duffel bags for their clothing and Backpacks for their school books while they are here.

I hope all of you will go out of your way to shop at these two stores!

We have another merchant who is trying to provide the Sound Equipment they need, and we're talking with Rental car places about the two 15 passenger vans we need.

New One Child at a Time Recipient!

Christine didn’t have much of a childhood growing up in Kampala, Uganda. Her father left when she was young and she grew up taking care of her ill mother. When well enough, her mother worked at any job she could find to earn money to support them. But when she was too ill to work, little Christine took on the role of her mother’s caregiver. After years of illness her mother could no longer work enough to pay the bills.

A few years ago, this 2-member family lost the small house they were living in because they could no longer pay the rent. When Glory Church heard of their plight, the church offered them a small room behind the church in which to live. Christine and her mother have lived there ever since.

Christine is now 15 years old and Glory Church is paying her way for school. When this hard working youngster is not in classes or doing homework, she is tending to her elderly mother who is dying, and assisting with chores needing to be done around the church.

Glory Children's City International (GCCI) is a group of more than 30 people who joined together in 2005 to make life better for a group of orphans in Masaka, Uganda. All of the officers and board members are volunteers. Administrative supplies, time, and all items needed for the GCCI project are donated by the board and other members. This is a program where 100% of the funding and resources go directly to the children.

Every purchase made on MY POWER MALL helps us feed, clothe and provide schooling for Christine.
